Happy Halloween

Today is Halloween.  I had to put on a stupid costume.  Dogs do not need to wear clothes.  But I am a good boy and let Jean dress me up.  I don't even know what the heck I am supposed to be.  I got a treat for being a good boy.

Laying Around

I spend a lot of time laying around.  I do some work then I take a nap.  Then I do some more work then I take a nap.  I lay around and wait for Jim to do  more work.

A bit of sunshine

In the summer the sun is too hot.  But when the weather cools off I like to find a bit of sunshine for my morning nap.

 Jim went shopping.  He bought me a big bag of food.  Last time Jen bought my big bag of food.  Usually TJ and Pat buy my food but they haven't been around.  I am happy that I have a lot of people who love me and buy me food.

I helped Jim outside.  The leaves are falling and covering the ground.  It makes it harder to find my tennis balls but I am very good at finding my tennis balls.  I had fun outside with Jim.

I was very tired and I put myself to bed early.'

Check ups

Everyone needs a check up every year.  Jim and Jean go to their doctor for a check up.  I go to the vet for a check up.  The heater needs a check up too.  Today the heater man came and gave the heater it's yearly checkup.  He threw the ball for me a few times.  I liked the heater man.  The heater is lucky because it doesn't have to have any shots.

Boring Rainy Day

Today was a boring rainy day.  I hung out with Jean in her office for a while.

 Then I went downstairs and helped Jim with pictures.

My Clean Chicken

One of my favorite toys is my chicken that Tiffany gave me.  I just love it.  Since it is made of cloth it gets dirty when I slobber on it and drag it around.  Jim washed my chicken and now it is just like new.  I can start all over getting it to smell just right.

Home Alone

Today we all got up and had breakfast.  Then we went outside and planted some plants that Jim and Jean bought.  Then Jim and Jean gave me a couple treats and left me home alone the rest of the day.   When they finally came home my dinner was an hour late!  I was starving.  I was so happy to see them I wriggle my butt.  Now we can play tennis ball.

More Hiking

Today we went on a hike on our regular trails.  It was a beautiful day.  Jean is still off work so we went in the morning.  We were the only people on the trail so I didn't have to be on the leash.  I could sniff all I wanted.

Camping

I have a lot to tell you.  I have been camping with Jim and Jean.  We went to Washington State Park.  I had so much fun.  I met some other dogs.  First I met Walter.  He was a little dog from Chicago.

Then I met Buzz.  He was really big.  I was scared of him at first but he was nice.

We took lots of hikes through the woods.  There were a lot of good smells on the way.

We stopped at the river so I could get a drink and take a swim.

 We took more hikes.  We hiked every trail in the park.

 One time my foot started to hurt Jim checked it and rubbed it then it felt better and I kept hiking.

 There were creeks to get a nice cool drink of water.

 After a busy day hiking we needed a nap.

 We took another hike and I got to chase a stick in the river.

 We also went for a canoe ride.  I like the canoe

I was so tired at the end of the day.  I like camping.

My ball rolls under the furniture

Today I was playing with my ball.  It rolled under the bed.  I tried and tried to get it but it was too far under the bed.

Finally Jim got it out for me.  I was so happy.

Jim and Jean took me to the trail for a run.  They don't take me to run in the hot weather because they don't want me to get too hot.  It has finally cooled off enough for me to go for a run with them.  Then we cleaned the leaves out of the pond.  I will drop my ball in the pond if they don't pay attention to me.  It was a good day.

Chicken Cordon Bleu

Today Jim and Jean slept in.  This means my breakfast was late!  I was so hungry.  I like my breakfast early.  They did some work around the house then went shopping.  Jean took me for a nice walk then I had dinner right on time.  I like my dinner on time.  Jean and Jim went to take some pictures.  They had dinner there and Jean brought me home some of her chicken cordon bleu.  It was delicious!

Jim went to work

Jim went to work and the Beer and Wine Store.  He only works there when they really need him.  That means I was left here with Jean all day and Jean was typing away at her computer.  Jean took me for a walk in the neighborhood and played with me but I sure missed Jim.

Deer are Stupid, Dogs are Smart

Deer are stupid.  Deer eat the human's plants.  Deer eat Jim's grapevine.  Jim worked very hard to build a fence around his vineyard but those stupid deer jumped through the wires and ate Jim's vines.  Because deer make people mad, people want to shoot them. 

Dogs are smart.  Dogs listen to their humans.  Dogs do not eat human's precious plants.  Therefore, people love dogs.  If a human loves you then they feed you and take care of you and let you sleep in their house.  Those stupid deer have not figured that out.

At last some work

Today Jim and I did some work outside.  We planted the mum plant that TJ and Pat gave to Jean.  Jean is happy because it is very beautiful.  We also planted some flower seeds and bulbs.  It was a nice day to be outside.

A pretty boring day

Today Jim cleaned house and Jean sat at her desk all day.  This makes for a boring day for a dog.  I didn't do much work today.  I played a little ball and took naps.

The porch

Today Jim had a headache.  First he sat on the couch and read.  Then we went to the screened in porch and he read some more.  Then it started to thunder.  Kaboom!  I wanted to go inside but Jim made me stay on the porch with him.  The porch does have windows and a ceiling and everything but the thunder sounds louder out there.  I was very brave and only whined a little.

Boring Sunday

Today Jim and Jean went kayaking with Jen and John.  I had to stay home.  I like swimming and canoeing but I don't fit in the kayak with Jim.  I caught up on my naps.

A good day for a hike

This morning Jim and Jean left to take some pictures.  This afternoon we took a long walk on the Cedar Bluff Trail.  To get to the trail you have to walk through a tunnel.  The tunnel goes underneath the railroad tracks.  There was a train going by so the tunnel was noisy.

It was a nice hike.  There are not many people on the Cedar Bluff Trail so I got to be off the leash most of the time.  I have not been on that trail for a long time so there were many great scents I had to check out.

We had to walk through the tunnel on the way back.  There was not a train this time so it was quiet. 

When we got back to the car I was very tired after the long hike.  Jim helps me into the car sometimes when I'm tired.

We got home in time for dinner then we watched the Cardinal game.

Outside Work and Inside Work

I have a lot of work to do around here.  There is outside work like keeping track of sticks and balls while Jim messes around.  Today he painted the fire ring.  We like to have campfires in the yard.

I have inside work too.  I take care of Jim and Jean and sometimes I wash the dishes.

Helped Jim

Helped Jim outside.  Took a nap.  Helped Jim some more.  Took another nap.

Missing TJ and Pat

Yesterday morning TJ and Pat drove away.  I waited all day for them to come home.  Then at bedtime Jim let me outside.  I came in and I just sat there and stared at Jim.  I was used to sleeping with TJ and Pat.  The door to the guest room was closed.  I decided to sleep in the hallway outside Jim and Jean's bed.

Today I helped Jim outside all day with his wood pile.  It was a nice day to work outside.  Then Jean took me for a walk in the neighborhood.  All my friends were outside.  TJ and Pat didn't come back for me.

Back to Work

This morning we all got up early.  TJ and pat packed up their car.  I helped them.

Then we went in the house and I got lots and lots of hugs and kisses.  I had a feeling they were going to forget to bring me along.

I got more hugs.  Then they got in their car and drove off.  I was sad.  I sulked around the house.

Then Jim told me it was time to get to work.  We went outside and worked on the wood pile.  I worked very hard all afternoon.

I was tired after my hard day of work.  Jim really needs me around here to help him.
