Getting the mail

Everyday Jim and Jean walk down the long driveway to the mailbox.  I usually stay around the house.  I don't see the point of walking down there.  They don't want me near the street anyway.  There are letters and packages in the mailbox.  I don't pay much attention to the mail.  Today there was a postcard.  It had my name on it!  It was from TJ and Pat in Wisconsin.  I didn't pay much attention until Jean read it to me and said it was from TJ and Pat.  Then my ears perked up.  I hope TJ and Pat take me to Wisconsin some day and let me taste the cheese.
Jim and Jean went shopping this morning and left me alone.  They don't leave me alone much.  In the afternoon Jean took me for a walk and I met a new puppy that lives in the subdivision.  It is smaller that me but will grow to be very big.  It is a great dane.

Inside Toys and Outside Toys

I like my toys.  I have inside toys - a squeaky bear, a plastic hamburger and a rawhide to chew on.  I like my outside toys the best - my tennis balls, frisbee and sticks.  I am supposed to keep my inside toys inside and my outside toys outside.  This week I was able to sneak a tennis ball inside when Jean wasn't looking.  Tonight I was outside with Jim.  He was throwing a stick.  Then he started collecting sticks together.  You won't believe what he did next.  He brought them inside.  I was excited and thought maybe he would throw them inside.  But instead the took those perfectly good sticks and burned them in the fireplace.

Bath Time

Today it was 84 degrees.  It was a good day for a bath outside.  After my bath am really good at shaking - especially my butt because I have lots of practice.  My hair around my ear gets nice and crimped when I have a bath.  I like being nice and clean.  Jean took me for my walk.  Jim threw my frisbee.  Jim likes to put gravy from their dinner on my food.  It makes it taste really good.

Tonight I watched the presidential debate.  Neither one of them said anything about a law that would require people to give dogs a good lunch.  (see my previous post) I was bored.

Lunchtime for dogs

Every morning I get breakfast. Jim and Jean sit down and eat their breakfast too.  Every evening I get dinner.  Jim and Jean eat their dinner too.  But Jim and Jean get something I don't get - lunch.  I don't know who decided that dogs don't need lunch but I don't agree.  I would like to have lunch too.  Sometimes I get some crumbs or a chip but I would really like to have lunch every day.

Getting Fit

TJ and Pat took me backpacking, hiking and rafting when we lived in Idaho.  But I have to admit that I gained a few pounds being an apartment dog for a year.  Jim and Jean are determined to make sure I am fit and healthy.  Jean takes me on runs with her.  Jim and Jean take me on lots of walks.  They throw tennis balls, sticks and my frisbee.  They carefully measure my food and limit my treats.  But I will tell you something.  Jim may seem like a big strict guy but he is really a softy.  He gives me vanilla wafers and bites of his sandwich and chips.  He gives me tastes of lots of things.  I just love him.  He is also the best at throwing the frisbee.

I'm glad I'm not a fish

Jim and Jean have a fish pond in their back yard.  They like to feed their fish and watch them swim around.  When it gets too cold they don't feed the fish any more.  This is because they are cold blooded and can't digest well when it is cold.  They might nibble on some algea or an occasional bug but they don't get fish food.  I'm glad I'm not a fish because I really like my breakfast and dinner every day.
