My Hike

Today we took a hike.  We were going to hike the bluffs in Castlewood State Park.  The park was closed because the river took over.  So we went to the Bluff View Trail.  The first thing I did was find some briars to walk through.

We walked to the bluff and had quite a view of the flooding.

We walked along the trail.  It was a nice day for a hike.

When we have to cross water Jim and Jean tiptoe across the rocks.  I just walk through the water.  It is so much easier.  Jim and Jean don't want to get their feet wet.  I don't mind if my feet get wet.

We walked until the water came up to the trail.  Then we turned around and walked back.

We saw this along the trail.   We had a discussion about whether the people who put it there knew about Leave No Trace.

When we got home I had to have my fur brushed then I had to have a bath.  Now I am clean and fluffy.  Jim and I are going to watch some football.

The Garden

Today Jim and Jean went to the Botanical Garden.  Dogs are not allowed at the Botanical Garden.  This is the silliest thing I ever heard.  I am a garden expert.  I helped Jim build a garden.  Then I helped Jim and Jean plant a garden.  I helped them pick vegetables from their garden.  I know all about gardens but I had to stay home alone.  When they got home Jean gave me a treat and took me for a run. 

No Rain

It finally stopped raining.  Jim and Jean took me for a run on the Rock Hollow Trail.  It rained so much that our favorite trail - the Al Foster Trail is flooded.  The Rock Hollow is paved so we didn't get muddy.  I played with my new toys.  Jean gave me my new rawhide and I chewed on it a while.

More Rain

It has been raining every day since Christmas.  I have not been able to play outside or take walks.  I just stay in the house.  Sometimes Jim and Jean throw a toy in the basement.

I love my new toy called a Pup Pop.  TJ and Pat gave it to me.  I carry it around the house.

 Jean and Jim think I am sad because TJ and Pat left me again.  I do miss them very much.  I know they will come get me someday and I will live with them.

Goodbye

This morning we got up early and had breakfast.  TJ and Pat packed up their car.  They gave me hugs and kisses.  I was not happy.  I think they are leaving for a long time again.  They took all their suitcases and drove away.  Besides that it rained all day again so I was stuck inside.  I played with my new toys and took naps.

My Christmas

I have been very busy celebrating Christmas.  On Christmas Eve Charlie came over.  The humans decorated Christmas cookies.  They did not let us help.

The humans went to a Christmas Eve party.  I stayed home and watched Charlie.  We both took naps.  Christmas morning there were lots of presents for Charlie and me.  We were very, very good boys.

Then Jim and Jean took me to the farm.  It was storming so I stayed inside most of the time.  Everyone knows that storms are very scary.  That is everyone except Charlie.

Then the next day TJ and Pat came.  So did Charlie and Jen and John.  Then Tiffany came and brought Dale and Tammy.  But best all of my favorite little humans came.  I have missed them.  I was so happy to see them.

Worried

TJ and Pat have been here for a while.  It has been glorious.  They play with me and take me for walks and runs.  I get to snuggle with them at night.  Today they started packing their car.  I am a little worried.  When they pack up their car that means they are leaving for a long time.  I am happy here with Jim and Jean but I do love when TJ and Pat come.

They come and go

The humans come and go.  They all leave.  Then they all come back.  Then Jean and Jim leave.  Then they come back.  Then they all leave.  Then they all come back.  Then TJ and Pat leave.  Then Jim and Jean leave.  Then they come back. I am happy as long as someone is here to give me my cookie at lunchtime and feed me my dinner.

Going to Visit Nana

Today I went to visit Nana with TJ and Pat.  I love going to visit Nana.  She has a jar of dog cookies just for me.  I get to go in her house and eat cookies.  It was a good day.

Thunder

There was rain and thunder very early this morning.  I jumped out of bed and didn't know what to do.  I usually go into Jim and Jean's room when there is thunder.  But TJ and Pat were here.  They hugged me and took care of me and made sure I was safe.

Hiking

Today Jean and TJ took me to the trail for a nice hike.  Then the humans went to the movie.  I am not allowed to go to the movie.  I can only watch movies at home on the TV.  I am not very interested in movies at all.

My Saturday

Jim and Jean took me for a run on the trail.  There were lots of people and dogs out.  It was a nice day on the trail.  TJ and Pat spent the night at Pat's parent's house.  I was so happy to see them when they came come.  Tonight we watched the presidential debate.  I did not hear them say one thing about dog's rights.  What kind of debate was that.  They need to be concerned about dogs.

Two Hikes, One Day

Today I went on two hikes.  Pat took me for a hike in the morning.  Then Jim and Jean took me for a hike in the afternoon.  It was a good day for hiking.

The Clock

I don't have much use for clocks.  When I am hungry I want to eat.  I don't care what the clock says.  My humans think I should eat at 5:00.  When I am tired I want to go to bed.  I don't care what time it is.   Today Pat took me for a nice hike on the trail.   I was tired early so Pat put me to bed.

Our Driveway

I watch out the window at our driveway.  Sometimes I see turkeys.  Sometimes I see deer.  Today I saw the UPS driver.  He is my friend.  I always like to go outside and greet him.  I saw his brown truck and I barked so Jim would let me outside.  At the same time TJ drove up in the car.  I was running to the UPS man and realized TJ was here so I did a U turn and went to greet her.  Then I went to the UPS driver.  Then later Larry came to sit in his deer stand.  I had to greet him too.  Then we left him alone.  He sits there with his bow and arrow and waits for deer to walk by.  It is hard work keeping track of who comes up the driveway.

Shopping and Hiking

Today I went shopping with Pat.  I had to wait in the car while he went in the store.  I don't mind that because is it cold outside and the car is very comfortable.  They would never, ever, ever, leave me in a hot car.  I like the Subaru.

Then in the afternoon TJ and Pat took me to Castlewood for a hike.  It was just like old times.  I grew up hiking with TJ and Pat.  It is the best!

A Busy Day

I usually have two humans to keep track of.  Now that TJ and Pat are here I have four humans to help.  I helped Jim in his office.

I also helped Jean in her office.  TJ and Pat left to go do some shopping.  I watched out the window for them.  I also watch for the UPS truck and deer. 

Today I saw turkeys out my window.

I helped TJ wrap Christmas presents.  I didn't see any presents for me.  I have been a very good boy.  I know I will get presents.  I love presents.

Race Day

This  morning Jean had a very early race.  Usually I get up early when she has a race but since TJ and Pat are here I just stayed in bed and relaxed.

I smell a cat

Last night TJ and Pat left and did not come back.  I had to sleep by myself in the kitchen.  I never know if they are going to leave for a day or a month or many months.  This time they were just gone one night.  When they got home I smelled a cat.  They spent the night at Pat's parents house with the cats.  They came home to play with me.  They like to play their Nintendo game and I watch them.

So much work

TJ and Pat are here.  That means I get to sleep with them instead of sleeping in the kitchen by myself.  TJ and Pat really need me to help them.  I don't know what they do without me.  I have been helping them sort through all their stuff in the basement.

 
 
 
 

 

 

Then we went to the Beezley's house.  The Beezleys have two cats.  I think I like cats but I am not sure about it.  First I looked through the door at Lilly.

I think Lilly wanted to play with me but I just wanted to come inside and be with my people.  They let me come inside to meet Lilly.  We were a little scared of each other but it was fine.

 



There is another cat name Oliver.  He was hiding.  I never got to meet him.

Next we went outside and put up Christmas lights.  I helped.  The cats are not very good helpers.  They just stay inside and lay around.

It was a very busy day.

My People

TJ and  Pat are here!   They surprised me.  I hurt my foot today jumping around but it didn't stop me from wiggling by butt.  I love TJ and Pat.

A lunchtime walk

Today Jim and Jean took me for a walk at lunch time.  The weather has been beautiful for December. 

More running

In the winter the days are short.  It is too dark to run at night. Jean like to run during her lunch break.  Today Jim and Jean and I went and ran through the neighborhood at lunch.  After that I needed a nap.

The Farm

Yesterday we went to the farm.  Tiffany was there.  She brought Dale and Tammy with her.  Charlie was there too.  He brought Jen and John.  We all helped Grandma and Grandpa put up Christmas lights and the tree.  Then Jim, Jean, Jen, John and I went to the St. Francis River.  I got to ride in Jen and John's new van.  Jen and John kayaked and the rest of us hiked.  We went back to the farm and spent the night.  Today we went back to the St Francis River again.  This time Charlie came with us.  We hiked while Jen and John kayaked.  Then we came home.  It was a busy weekend.

 When we are at the farm I keep track of the people by looking in the door.  I sleep on the back screened in porch at night.

 I took a little swim.  I wasn't supposed to get wet and dirty but it was too tempting

 Sometimes Jim has to help me up and over the big boulders.
