Charlie's Back

This morning Dan came and brought Sparky with him.  Sparky is a little black dog that came to help pour concrete.  Sparky doesn't know how to fetch a ball or do many tricks.

Then Jen came and dropped of Charlie.  She also brought me a big bag of dog food.  I was happy to see the bag of dog food because we were running  low.  Jen loves me.

Jim and Jean left and I had to dog sit Charlie.  But then they came back and we played ball.  Then Jim shared his snack with us.

Back to Work

Jean went back to work in her office.  Jim and I went back to work outside.  We had a lot to do in the yard and garden.  Those darn deer got in the vineyard again.  This does not make Jim happy.  I had a lot of ball chasing to do.  I still am missing my little herd of humans that I had to watch last week.  There were four of them.  That means I got four treats.  Jim and Jean only give me one treat.

My new toy

Country Grandma bought all the grand-dogs a new toy.  It is the best toy ever.  It makes noise when it moves.  I just love my new toy.

Walking with Charlie

Charlie is at our house today.  Jen and John will pick him up tonight.  Then they will bring him back in a couple of days when they go on vacation.  Then Jim will take him back to the farm when Grandma and Grandpa get back from their vacation.  There are a lot of vacations this time of year.  Today Jim and Jean took us for a walk.  We got to get a drink in the creek.

I had so much fun with Becky and Mark and my four human children.  It was hard work but I am a working dog and I love having a job.  I miss my human children.

Vacations

I have not posted my blog for a long time.  Jim and Jean went on vacation.  They went to a national park.  I am not allowed to hike in national parks.  I went to Becky and Mark's house.  I was happy to go there.  I went there in March when Jim and Jean went on vacation.  At Becky and Mark's house there is a small dog named Doodlebug.  I like Doodlebug.  But my favorite is the four small humans.  I just love them.  They are my little herd.  They like to pet me and throw the toy for me and give me treats.  Most days the little humans go to day camp.   They get to swim and play with other kids.  In the afternoon I get in the van with Becky and Doodlebug and we would go to pick the kids up.  I started out in the back of the van but when Becky went to get the kids I jumped to the front seat so I could watch for them.  I was so excited to see my little humans.  In the evening the little humans play with me and take baths.  I help to tuck them in.  I bring a toy to their bed so they can throw it.  I sleep on my bed in Becky and Mark's room at night.  I had a fun time and Becky and Mark's house.  Today Jim and Jean picked me up.  They picked Charlie up too.  Now I am back at home.  I really miss my little humans.

A bath

I had to have a bath.  I don't think I needed one because I went swimming in the creek this weekend.  But Jim gave me a bath with shampoo so I was clean and fluffy.  Then we went to visit grandma and grandpa for a little while.  Then we went to see Becky and Mark.  I was so happy to see them.  I went right to the door when I got out of the car.  When I got in the house I greeted Becky and Mark and went to Doodlebug's toy box and got out toys.  I took a toy to Becky so she could throw it for me.  Then I went to look for the little humans.  I whined because I could not find them.  I missed my little herd of humans. 

Late Dinner

Today it rained.  Rainy days are boring.  Jim and Jean left to go visiting and did not get home until after my dinner time.  I like my dinner at 5:00.  I am hungry.  Tonight my dinner was late.  I didn't exactly starve but I was hungry.

Hiking Castlewood

Today we took a hike to Castlewood.  It was a hot day so I got to start the hike off with a swim in the creek.  It was cool and refreshing.  There were some kids playing in the creek.  They thought I was handsome.

Once I was nice and cool we hiked up the hill to the bluffs.

Then we hiked down the hill and stopped by the creek again.  It was the same creek but a different place.  I went swimming again.  There were more kids to swim with.  Jim threw a stick for me to run in the water and get.

When get out of the water I shake to get the water off.  I am very good at shaking.

Then instead of walking back on the path we walked back in the creek.  Jim and Jean walked through the water in their shoes.  It was a great hike.

Helping Jim Stretch

Today I helped Jim stretch.  He lays down on the floor and stretches his back and legs.  I don't think he could do his exercises without me.

Couches

Jim and Jean have couches.  I am not allowed on the couches.  Couches are for taking naps in the middle of the day.  Beds are for sleeping at night.  I am not allow on the beds unless TJ and Pat are here then I can sleep with them.  There is a couch in the family room.  This is where Jim usually naps.  Today he decided to nap on the couch in his office.  I always bring him a ball when he lays down in case he want to play.   Jim is not allowed to throw the ball upstairs but he breaks the rules.  My rule is to stay off the couch and I don't break my rule.  There is also a couch in the basement.  Jim never takes a nap down there but it would be a good place because it is nice and cool.  Sometimes when TJ and Pat are here TJ lets me get up on the basement couch. 

After dinner Jim and Jean took me for a nice walk on our favorite trail.  It's getting hot outside.

A nice day

Today I helped Jim outside.  Then I took a nap.  Next I ate dinner.  Then  Jean took me for a walk.

Good day for a nap

It was a good day for a nap.  Actually every day is a good day for a nap.  We didn't work hard today but we took a nap anyway just because we can.

A Busy Day

This morning Jim and I went outside to do some work.  Then when we came in Jim changed his pants and shoe and got his car keys.  I parked myself in the hall outside Jean's office.  But Jim told me I was going to go with him.  We got in the car and drove away.  It was a trick.  He took me to the vet.  I don't much like the vet.  I guess he is a nice man but he sticks needles in me.  I do not like getting up on his table at all.  I had a shot and a blood test.  They weighed me and I am perfect.  Then we went to the bank.  We stay in the car and go through the drive through.  The bank gave me cookie!  I like the bank.  When we got home Jim changed back to his work pants and shoes and we went outside to mow the grass.  Then after dinner Jim and Jean took me for a walk.  I am exhausted after my busy day.

The orchard

We have an orchard out by the vineyard.  Today I helped Jim plant an apple and a nectarine tree.  This is very hard work.  First Jim digs a big hole.  I don't dig.  It would make my paws dirty which is frowned upon.  Then Jim put the tree in the hole and filled it up.  Then he watered it.  I watched him to make sure he was doing it right.

My Saturday

I forgot to post my blog yesterday.  Sometimes we get busy.  Yesterday Jim and Jean packed their backpacks and took me for a hike in Castlewood State Park.  When TJ and Pat put on their backpacks we always set up a tent and spent the night.  Jim and Jean just took me for a hike then we went home.  I think they are practicing walking with their packs.

Daytime naps

Sometimes Jim and I take naps in the middle of the day for no reason.  We are hard working men and we can do whatever we want.  If we want to take a nap we can.  Life is good.  Jean doesn't take naps because she has to work in her office all day.

Jim's Golf Day

Today Jim played golf.  He got up early and fed me breakfast and left for most of the day.  I was stuck here with Jean who was working in her office all day.  She did give me a treat at lunch and took me outside a couple times.  It was mostly a boring day.

The fence

Today I spent most of the day outside helping Jim.  He is changing the fence so that the deer cannot crawl under it.  Jim works very hard on his vineyard and fence.  I mostly watch him and chase the tennis ball.

Today I heard Jim talking.  Something exciting is going to happen.  I am going to visit my herd of four little humans.  I have missed my little herd.  They are great fun.

Normal Day

Regular day.  Breakfast.  Jean worked.  Treat for lunch.  Jean worked.  Dinner.
