My Friday

Today I helped Jim outside.  Jean took me for a walk in the neighborhood.  We saw my friends and stopped to talk to some neighbors.  It was a regular day.

Helping Jim

Today I helped Jim outside.  He was using his weed eater.  I was watching to make sure he did it right.

If I get hot I got to get a drink from the pond and lay on the cool garage floor.

Then Jim took a rest and I watched him.  I just love Jim.

Cooler

Today was cooler but it is still summer.  It was cool enough that Jim and I went outside to do some work.  Jim cut the grass and I watched him. 

The hottest day of the year

Today was the hottest day of the year.  It was 100 with a heat index like an oven.  Jim and I went outside to work first thing in the morning but it got hot so we came in.  The best thing to do on a hot afternoon is to take a rest.

More Storms

More storms today.  Enough already!  I do not like storms.  There is plenty room under Jean's desk for me and Jean's feet.

Rainy Sunday

There was thunder last night.  Loud Thunder.  I went right to Jim and Jean's room.  If I lay down by Jim's side of the bed he will reach his had down and pet me.  It makes me less scared.  Then we got up and had waffles.  Then it rained some more.  We took a walk in the afternoon but it was pretty hot so we didn't walk far.

Summer Cut

Jim trims my hair in the summer.  It keeps me cool and beautiful.  He does not cut it too short.  People tell me I am so handsome.  This morning we got up early to take a walk before it got too hot then Jim brushed me and trimmed my hair.  I am handsome.

Bike Rides

Jim and Jean like to get exercise every day.  I like when the exercise is hikes because I always get to go on hikes.  I get to go on runs in the cool weather but it is too hot for me in the summer.  I never get to go on bike rides.  Tonight they took a bike ride.  I had to stay home while they rode bikes.  I got my exercise by chasing the tennis ball this afternoon.

Trees

We have a lot of trees.  There are so many trees that Jim and Jean never counted them.  One of the trees was too close to the power lines.  It was dead and Jim was worried it would fall over.  The Electric Company people came to cut it down today.  Jim went outside to talk to them.  He left me inside because he did not want a tree to fall on me.  I did not like being left inside.  I stood by the door and whined.

My Toys

I like my toys.  When I am happy I find a toy to carry around.  When there is thunder I like to keep a toy close.  My toys make me happy.  I have lots of toys and I like to keep them all around the house.

Anniversaries.

Today is a very special day.  Six years ago today when I was just a very little puppy TJ and Pat adopted me.  They didn't know if they wanted me at first.  I was the last one from my litter and no one wanted me.  I was scared.  They brought me home on a one week trial.  They fell in love with me and I fell in love with them.  It was the best day of my life.  I lived with them in Illinois for two years then we moved to Idaho for a year.  I have been with Jim and Jean for almost 3 years.  I am still TJ and Pat's dog.  TJ and Pat still love me.  They come to see me and send me presents.

When they first got me I had to have a bath.

TJ wrapped me in a towel and dried me off.

 I was pretty skinny and my beautiful coat had not grown in yet.

I loved to snuggle with TJ and Pat.

I tried to be cute so they would want to keep me.

 They bought me toys.  I liked to lay with my back legs spread out.  I still like to lay like that.

Home alone again

This morning there was thunder.  Jim and Jean were still in bed so I walked into their bedrooms and laid down.  I don't like thunder.  Then we got up and had breakfast.  We hung around in the morning them Jim and Jean left to go to the City Museum.  Dogs are not allowed at the City Museum so I stayed home alone.  They got back after my dinner time.  I was starved.  They gave me dinner then Jean took me for a nice walk in the neighborhood.  I caught up on my  naps today.

Early Morning Walk

When it is hot we get up early to exercise.  This morning Jean went for a run.  Jim's knee has been hurting so he took me for a walk.  They went before they ate breakfast.  They gave me breakfast before the walk because 1.  I eat fast and 2. I would let them know if they forgot to feed me breakfast.  We had a nice walk and Jean had a nice run.  It was hot so we spent most of the day inside.

The Concert

Tonight Jim and Jean took me to a concert.  There was music, popcorn and hotdogs.  They brought a bowl and water for me.  There were lots of people who told me I was handsome and all the pretty girls wanted to pet me.  I like concerts.

Another Hot Day

Today was another hot day.  I helped Jim mow the grass in the morning.  We stayed inside in the air conditioning in the afternoon.  Jean went for a run in the evening.  It's too hot for me to run in the summer so I stayed home and watched TV with Jim.

My favorite toys

I love all my toys.  I have my favorite toys.  I just love the ball that country grandma bought me.  It makes noise when I roll.  Sometimes I pick it up and shake it.  I like to keep my ball close by.  I have so much fun with  my ball.

Very Hot

Today was hot, very  hot.  I am glad we have air conditioning.  We did not spend a lot of time outside in the heat.  Tonight we watched the All-Star game. 

The Peanut Butter Jar

Today at lunch Jean had an apple with peanut butter on it.  She scraped out the peanut butter jar.  But there was a little bit left and she gave it to me.  I took it to my bed and hugged it with my paws and licked it clean.  I love when I get to lick out the peanut butter jar.

Summer is here

All of a sudden it got hot.  Really hot.  Hot for a dog with a beautiful fur coat.  Jim and Jean are very careful to make sure I do not get overheated in the hot weather.  Their solution is to take me for a walk in the creek.  There is a wonderful creek at Castlewood State Park.  The water is clean and cool.  I can swim and cool off.  We had a fabulous walk.

Home Alone

This morning Jim and Jean slept in because it is Saturday.  This means my breakfast was late.  Then they played some ball with me.  Next they went for a bike ride.  I can't ride a bike so I had to stay home.  They came home in time to give me a treat for lunch and play more ball with me.  Then they went shopping.  Then they came home and gave me my dinner and played some ball with me.  Next they went out to eat and left me home alone.  Then they came home and it is bedtime.

Ice Cream

Ice cream is very tasty.  Jim will buy a carton.  Then Jim will put some ice cream in a bowl and put the carton back in the freezer.  This will happen for many, many days until the carton is empty then he will give me the carton to lick out.  I love the day when the carton is empty.  Well, Jim was eating the ice cream right out of the carton.  That is my job!  I could not believe it.  He did finally give me the carton to lick out.

Sunshine!

The sun came out today.  It was glorious.  Jim and I worked outside all afternoon.  Jim messed with his wood chipper and I played lots of ball.  I was so happy to be outside with Jim,

More Rain

It rained all day again.  I cannot believe it would rain two days in a row.  Jim and Jean threw the ball in the basement for me but besides that it was boring.

Boring

Rainy day.  Housecleaning Day.  Boring Day.

Goodbye Charlie

This morning we got up and had breakfast.  Then I threw up my breakfast.  Jim loaded Charlie in the Envoy and took him to the farm.  I was mad that Jim took Charlie for a ride and I did not get to go.  He thought I had a tummy ache.  Well my tummy was just fine.  I ate lunch and dinner and feel great.  I was stuck here with Jean all day.  I hung out with her in her office.

A scary night

Last night there were fireworks all night.  I slept in Jim and Jean's closet.  Charlie is used to having me in the kitchen with him.  I think he slept in the hallway.  He is not scared of fireworks but he does like being with people or me.  Charlie has been good.  He did not chew up any of my toys.

The noisiest holiday

There are a lot of holidays.  My favorite holiday is Christmas because TJ and Pat are always here and I get new toys.  My least favorite holiday is Fourth of July.  There are loud fireworks.  It scares me.  I do not like it at all.  Charlie just lays around like nothing is happening.  I hide out in the closet where it is safe.

More Charlie Time

This morning Jim and Jean went shopping.  They left me home to dog sit Charlie.  It is very easy to watch Charlie because he sleeps a lot.  Jean threw the ball for us.  I run faster than Charlie.  He gets distracted looking for critters and forgets about the ball.  I let him get it sometimes.

Living with Charlie

I will tell you about Charlie.  When Jim and Jean let us outside.  I usually stroll around, then I sniff a little then I find a place to lift my leg, then I stroll some more and head back to the house.  Charlie darts out the door like he is on a mission.  He will sprint to the wood pile to see if he can catch a chipmunk. Then he runs a couple of laps around the house.  He might remember to lift his leg at some point.  I will follow after him to make sure I don't miss anything.

It is the time of year when humans like to shot off fireworks.  I do not like fireworks at all.  When I hear the loud pop I like to find shelter in the closet or hall bathroom.  Charlie just lays there.  He does not understand that the sky might be falling.

Charlie farts stinky.  Jim and Jean cough and gag.  I had occasionally farted a stinky one but not like Charlie.

But Charlie is a very sweet dog.  He is always nice to me.  He likes everyone.  Tonight Jim and Jean took us for a walk in the neighborhood.  Charlie met my good friend Sammie.  Sammie liked Charlie.  Then he met my friend Maddie.  Maddie is very timid even though she is huge (she is a great dane).  She was too timid to get close to Charlie even though he is a very nice boy.  Then we met the black dog that got out of his electric fence.  We took him home so he would not get lost.  Charlie liked all my friends.

Helping Jim

Today Charlie and I helped Jim outside.  I am in charge of balls and sticks.  Charlie is in charge of catching critters.  I catch lots of balls and sticks.  Charlie tries all day and never catches a critter.  When we are in the house Charlie likes to hang out with Jim in his office.  I like to lay in the hallway where I can see Jean and watch the rest of the house.
